Why thermal can help
Temperature contrast can make a target easier to distinguish.
A thermal camera detects temperature differences rather than seeing a conventional color image. Under favorable conditions, that contrast can make an animal stand out from the surrounding terrain.

Can a thermal drone see through trees?
No. Thermal cameras do not see through trees, solid vegetation, or other objects. Openings in the canopy may provide a useful view, but dense leaf cover and evergreens can block the thermal signature entirely.
Can you search at night?
Yes, nighttime searches may be available. ECM offers seasonal evening, nighttime, and weekend availability, and same-night response may be possible. Call or text for current availability.
How long does a deer recovery search take?
The $425 core-area search includes up to approximately two hours of active search time after the first launch. We may perform multiple flights as conditions require. Travel, setup, permission confirmation, and preflight evaluation are separate from active search time.
What information do you need before coming out?
We will ask for the property location, shot location, last-known location, time of the shot, direction of travel, what you observed, weather and tracking details, property boundaries, landowner permission, and any nearby hazards or access concerns.
Do I need permission from the landowner?
Yes. Appropriate property permission must be established for the requested search area. We will confirm the search boundaries and access details before flying.
What happens if the deer crosses onto another property?
ECM will not intentionally continue a search onto another property where required permission has not been established. If adjoining property may need to be searched, the appropriate permission must be obtained before that area is included.
Do you guarantee you will find the deer?
No. Customers are paying for a professional thermal search, not a guaranteed recovery. Terrain, foliage, weather, retained ground heat, search-area size, and the accuracy of the last-known location all affect the result.
